The Clare Valley is one of those places that rewards slowing down. Rolling hills, old stone buildings, gum trees, cellar doors, and a distillery tucked among the vines. Here’s how we’d spend a day in the valley.

Start with a gin tasting in Sevenhill

Book a table at the Three Little Birds tasting room in Sevenhill and work your way through the range. Signature, Navy Strength, Bramble, and the limited releases — each one tells a different part of the Clare Valley story. We’re open Thursday to Sunday.

Lunch on the lawn

Our tasting room serves food alongside the gins, with Jeanneret Wines and Clare Valley Brewing also on pour. There’s something for everyone, from wood-fired pizza to weekly events like Low & Slow Meats Sundays and Fish & Chips Fridays.

Explore the valley

After lunch, wander the Clare Valley. The Riesling Trail runs nearby, and the Sevenhill Jesuit Winery and Cellars are steeped in history. If you’re here in September, keep an eye out for the Festival of the Lamb.

Stay for sunset

The deck comes alive in the evening. Festoon lights, a glass of something local, and a view over the gum trees. It’s the part of the day we never rush.
